The wedding between Pollard and Val and a special guest appearance from Antony Worrall Thompson will mark Emmerdale's 5000th episode
After Pollard (Chris Chittell) proposed to Val (Charlie Hardwick) in December last year, few Emmerdale viewers would have expected them to see it through to the nuptials. With neither Pollard or Val well versed in honesty or monogamy, it seemed only a matter of time before an indiscretion or argument would shatter the foundations of their love.
When Val discovered that Pollard had been blackmailed over some suggestive pictures of him with temptress Rosalind, their relationship faced its ultimate test. Typically, money conquered all and the discovery that Rosalind was the blackmailer, saw Val and Pollard reunite and claim their lost cash. With the coffers seemingly fit to burst, Val turned her attention to planning the grandest wedding of all-time.
However, due to the true nature of his finances, Pollard decided to give Val the wedding of her dreams, but for a tenth of the price. With Val tied up in arranging the 'Village Pub of the Year' contest, Pollard slyly plans to combine the two events. On the morning of the ceremony, Val is none the wiser due to her ongoing feud with the Dingles. Val storms round to see Lisa Dingle (Jane Cox), believing Lisa to be sabotaging the contest, but Val is accidentally knocked unconscious. Lisa is horrified and leaves a stricken Val with Eli (Joseph Gilgun) while she makes a delivery. Ever the opportunist, Eli decides that Pollard would pay good money to see Val return unharmed and decides to kidnap the bride-to-be. But with Pollard's bank balance in the red, will Pollard find the cash to ensure Val makes it to the church on time?
Elsewhere, Marlon is fretting over whether his food will be good enough to win the competition, to be judged by Antony Worrall Thompson...
