Emmerdale's 500 episodes have seen over 50 weddings - how many can you remember?

FRANK BLAKEY married JANIE HARKER - 27 March 1973 (Ep 46)

The first Emmerdale wedding saw Frank, a local blacksmith marry Janie, the sister of Pat Sugden. Jack Sugden was the Best Man.

JOE SUGDEN married CHRISTINE SHARP - 10 September 1974 (Ep 192)

Joe and Christine's marriage only lasted 5 weeks, although they did try getting married again in 1976, but finally decided to divorce in the same year. Matt Skilbeck was Best Man.

MATT SKILBECK married DOLLY ACASTER - 29 June 1978 (Ep 460)

Amos Brierley gave Dolly away and Joe was Best Man. Matt and Dolly met after Dolly became the barmaid at the Woolpack.

JACK SUGDEN married PAT MERRICK - 5 October 1982 (Ep 747) Pat had been Jack's teenage love before he left Beckindale in 1964. Pat was also the mother of his child, Jackie. Jack and Pat married at Hotten Registry Office with Joe and Annie Sugden as their witnesses.

JACKIE MERRICK married KATHY BATES - 3 February 1988 (Ep 1219)

Kathy wore Annie's wedding dress after her own was damaged in a flood at her mother's cottage. Archie Brooks was Best Man.

JOE SUGDEN married KATE HUGHES - 12 April 1989 (Ep 1341)

Joe's second marriage was to Kate, a divorcee with two children. Kate was given away by her father and Jack was Best Man. Joe arrived late on Alan's horse.

KATHY MERRICK married CHRISTOPHER TATE - 5 November 1991 (Ep 1606)

Kathy and Chris married after a turbulent courtship. Frank provided a lavish reception and a helicopter for the couple.

ERIC POLLARD married ELIZABETH FELDMANN - 6 October 1992 (Ep 1701)

Eric and Elizabeth married despite serious opposition from Elizabeth's son, Michael. Nick Bates gave her away and Archie Brooks was Best Man. Michael was arrested immediately after the ceremony.

ANNIE SUGDEN married LEONARD KEMPINSKI - 28 October 1993 (Ep 1812)

Annie shocked her family by marrying at the age of 73 after meeting Leonard in Spain. Amos gave her away.

ALAN TURNER married SHIRLEY FOSTER - 10 February 1994 (Ep 1842)

Alan and Shirley's wedding took place at Hotten Registry Office. Alan and Shirley left the ceremony in a horse drawn carriage. Amos was the surprise Best Man and Seth gave Shirley away.

JACK SUGDEN married SARAH CONNOLLY - 19 May 1994 (Ep 1870)

Jack and Sarah had been together for five years and had a daughter, Victoria-Anne. Joe was Best Man yet again.

FRANK TATE remarried KIM TATE - 22 December 1994 (Ep 1932)

Frank and Kim first married in 1986, but divorced in 1993 after Kim's affair with Neil Kincaid, a local landowner. Chris was Best Man and Seth gave Kim away after her uncle got drunk.

TINA DINGLE jilted LUKE McALLISTER at the altar - 20 July 1995 (Ep 1992).

Tina refused to say her vows and branded Luke a murderer before fleeing from the Church.

ANNIE SUGDEN married AMOS BREARLY - November 1995

Annie and Amos married in Spain. Amos originally proposed in January 1973, but Annie turned him down.

RACHEL HUGHES married CHRIS TATE - 7 December 1995 (Ep 2033)

Rachel and Chris's ceremony took place at Hotten Registry Office with only Jack and Sarah Sugden present.

ZOE TATE's union with EMMA NIGHTINGALE was blessed - 16 May 1996 (Ep 2081)

Zoe and Emma exchanged vows and rings, but unfortunately their happiness did not last until the reception.

KATHY BATES married DAVE GLOVER - 28 November 1996 (Ep 2137)

Kathy and Dave married in secret at Hotten Registry Office.

LINDA GLOVER married BIFF FOWLER - 24 December 1996 (Ep 2144)

Linda and Biff married on Christmas Eve. Linda and Biff's wedding went ahead despite Biff's mum arriving with bad news that his father was dying. Dave Glover was Best Man and Alice Bates the bridesmaid.

ERIC POLLARD married DEE MARGHARITA DE LA CRUZ - 1 May 1997 (Ep 2199)

Eric married his Filipino fiancee at Hotten Registry Office. Sam Dingle was smuggled in to be Best Man.

LORD ALEX OAKWELL married TARA COCKBURN - 21 August 1997 (Ep 2246)

Lord Alex and Tara married in a swanky ceremony. The reception was at Oakwell Hall.

ZAK DINGLE's union with LISA CLEGG was blessed - 10 September 1997 (Ep 2254)

The Dingle brothers were involved in a dramatic wedding day when Zak snatched Lisa from the clutches of his brother Albert.

ZAK DINGLE married LISA CLEGG - 28 January 1998 (Ep 2316)

Zak and Lisa's wedding took place at Hotten Registry office. Paddy Kirk had to step in and donate his grandmother's ring for the ceremony after the ring Zak provided was reclaimed by its rightful owner.

KIM TATE married STEVE MARCHANT - 7 May 1998 (Ep 2357)

Kim and Steve's ceremony took place at Home Farm.

LADY TARA OAKWELL married LORD MICHAEL THORNFIELD - 16 September 1998 (Ep 2417)

Lady Tara broke Biff's heart when she left him to marry Lord Michael.

MANDY DINGLE married BUTCH DINGLE - 11 November 1998 (Ep 2442)

Mandy and Butch gained their family home by tying the knot in a marriage of convenience.

KELLY WINDSOR married ROY GLOVER - 27 May 1999 (Ep 2528)

Kelly and Roy married without a hitch, despite concerns that Scott would disrupt the ceremony.

BIFF FOWLER jilted KATHY GLOVER - 5 August 1999 (Ep 2559)

Kathy failed to make it fourth time lucky when Biff left her at the altar.

MANDY DINGLE married PADDY KIRK - 13 October 1999 (Ep 2591)

Mandy and Paddy had to rush their wedding to avoid the police who were after Mandy. Butch dressed up as a decoy Mandy and they had to borrow Sarah's ring. Eric Pollard tried to interrupt the ceremony with the police, but Angie stopped him and made him drop all the charges.

BUTCH DINGLE married EMILY WYLIE - 24 March 2000 (Ep 2671)

Butch and Emily married in a very emotional episode on Butch’s death bed after he was hurt in the bus crash.

TRICIA STOKES married JOE FISHER - 6 December 2000 (Ep 2802)

Tricia and Joe had a marriage of convenience to help Australian Joe stay in the country.

ASHLEY THOMAS married BERNICE BLACKSTOCK - 25 December 2000 (Ep 2815)

Ashley and Bernice were happily married and Carlos performed his duties as Best Man, despite harbouring feelings for Bernice.

BOB HOPE married VIV WINDSOR - 5 February 2001 (Ep 2845)

Terry was concerned that a nervous Bob would pull out of the ceremony, but in the end the ceremony went ahead as planned.

NICOLA BLACKSTOCK didn't marry CARLOS DIAZ - 4 October 2001 (Ep 3018)

Nicola and Carlos got to the church, but not the altar, after Bernice forced Nicola to admit she had lied about being pregnant with Carlos' child. An angry Carlos then told Nicola about his affair with Bernice!

CHRIS TATE married CHARITY DINGLE - 27 November 2001 (Ep 3056)

Chris and Charity married at Home Farm with a reception that included a fun fair.

RIC POLLARD married GLORIA WEAVER - 2 May 2002 (Ep 3169)

Eric and Gloria were married by Ashley. Sam gave Gloria away.

MARLON DINGLE intended to marry TRICIA STOKES - 17 October 2002 (Ep 3289)

Marlon and Tricia set off to get married but never made it to the altar.

PADDY KIRK married EMILY DINGLE - 17 October 2002 (Ep 3289)

Paddy and Emily married in place of Marlon and Tricia much to the surprise of the congregation.

MARLON DINGLE married TRICIA STOKES - 14 February 2003 (Ep 3375)

Marlon and Tricia finally tied the knot after Tricia arranged a surprise wedding.

TERRY WOODS married DAWN HOPE - 18 March 2003 (Ep 3397)Terry and Dawn's wedding ceremony was ruined by Bob and Viv when Bob tried to stop the wedding, insisting that Terry would ruin Dawn's life just as Viv ruined his. They had an argument outside the Church and Bob decided to end his marriage, citing the fact that Viv slept with another man.

ANDY SUGDEN married KATIE ADDYMAN - 17 February 2004 (Ep 3664/5)

Andy and Katie married at St Mary's Church. Robert was Best Man. They had a reception at the Village Hall.

JACK SUGDEN married DIANE BLACKSTOCK - 21 September 2004 (Eps 3849/50)

Jack and Diane had a reception in the Woolpack but had to leave early to attend the birth of Bernice's second child. Robert was Best Man.

CHARITY TATE due to marry TOM KING - 4 January 2005 (3939/40)

Their plans are ruined by Sadie who framed Charity by taking pictures of her and Cain together.
<>br />ASHLEY THOMAS married LAUREL POTTS - 6 November 2005 (Ep 4197)

Despite initial objections from the Bishop, the couple have a fast-track wedding. The consummation of their marriage was scuppered by the arrival of Ashley's father, Sandy.

DONNA WINDSOR married MARLON DINGLE - 16 February 2006 (4286/7)

Donna and Marlon were supposed to have a double wedding with Viv and Bob but it looked like Bob wasn't going to show so they went ahead without them.

BOB HOPE married VIV WINDSOR - 16 February 2006 (Ep 4286/7)

Viv and Bob married for the second time, despite worries Bob would be a no show! Bob was kidnapped by his ex-wife Jean and didn't make the initial ceremony. They interrupted a funeral and persuaded Ashley to marry them later in the day.

SADIE KING married ALASDAIR SINCLAIR - 24 March 2006 (Ep 4318)

Sadie ran off with Matthew King after the ceremony. The marriage was later annulled.

ALICE WILSON married SAM DINGLE - 24 April 2006 (Ep 4344)

Alice was keen to make things right before her imminent death.

STEPH STOKES married ADAM FORSYTHE - 14 May 2006 (Ep 4361)

The pair returned from holiday a married couple.

TOM KING married ROSEMARY SINCLAIR - 25 December 2006 (Ep 4553/4)

Shortly after their wedding, Tom fell to his death and Rosemary became a widow. It sparked the biggest whodunit in soap history.

SHARON LAMBERT was due to marry DAN McHERRON - 30 May 2007 (Ep 4690)

Val thought she was doing the right thing by telling Sharon Dan had been dropped by Fennelhurst - only for him to reveal he had been signed by a bigger club. Dan left Sharon at the altar.

KELLY WINDSOR was due to marry JIMMY KING - 9 October 2007 (Ep 4800/1)

Jimmy learned the truth about Kelly's abortion and called the wedding off.

ANDY SUGDEN married JO STILES - 19 February 2008 (Ep 4916)

Andy and Jo married in prison whilst Andy was inside for killing Sarah Sugden in the barn fire of 2000.

PAUL LAMBERT married JONNY FOSTER - 3 March 2008 (Ep 4927)

Paul and Jonny were due to get married at Home Farm but the couple married in secret at Hotten Registry Office, with Emily Kirk and Jonny's friend Barry as the only witnesses. Back at Home Farm, Paul and Jonny were married again by registrar Barry so as not to disappoint their families.

ERIC POLLARD to marry VALERIE LAMBERT - 3 June 2008 (Ep 5002/3)

Eric Pollard arranges a cheapskate wedding, only for Val to be kidnapped by the Dingles. Nevertheless, the couple make it to the altar and marry in St Mary's Church. David is Best Man and Paul gives Val away. This special showpiece episode to mark 5000 episodes of Emmerdale also features a special guest appearance from Antony Worrall Thompson.
