In this special programme, Kate and Gerry McCann talk about the year since their daughter Madeleine McCann disappeared in Portugal
Madeleine, One Year On: Campaign For Change focuses on Kate and Gerry McCann's campaign to prevent other families going through a similar ordeal to them. It also features extended contributions from both Gerry and Kate McCann.
Madeleine One Year On: Campaign for Change is the only TV programme the McCanns have agreed to be filmed for in the run up to the anniversary of Madeleine's disappearance.
Madeleine One Year On: Campaign for Change follows Kate and Gerry McCann as they launch a campaign to introduce a USA-style Amber Alert system to Europe, in which law enforcement agencies are empowered to commandeer airtime on TV and radio when a child goes missing. The system also includes alerts via email, electronic traffic signs and text messages.
Kate and Gerry McCann hope that a European-wide scheme will help reduce the chances of their experience happening to other families.
The documentary team have followed Kate and Gerry McCann since early January. Footage includes the couple at home in Rothley and travelling to Brussels and Washington as they pursue their campaign.
Kate and Gerry talk about Madeleine, the night Madeleine went missing, becoming "Arguido" suspects in Portugal, and their decision to return to Britain.
ITV will donate £10,000 to the Find Madeleine Fund following this programme. No payment has been made to Kate and Gerry McCann for the making of the programme.
