Bagpuss is the most popular Children's TV Animal according to a poll for Cbeebies Animals magazine

More than 1,100 people took part in the survey, which saw Bagpuss come top of the poll in a purr-fect result.

Bagpuss was previously named the most popular children's TV programme of all-time in a BBC poll conducted nine years ago.

Only 13 episodes of Bagpuss were ever made, all of which were screened for the first time in the UK in 1974.

The full order of the Cbeebies Animals magazine was:

4. The Magic Roundabout
5. DangerMouse
6. Shaun the Sheep
7. Paddington Bear
8. Top Cat
