TV presenter Des O'Connor, 76, has announced that he is stepping down as the host of Countdown at the end of the current series in November.
Des O'Connor took over as quizmaster on the Channel 4 show Countdown two years ago, replacing Des Lynham, who himself took over the reigns when the original Countdown host Richard Whitely died.
Des O'Connor said he had no plans to retire unless he thought the public no longer wanted him.
Des O'Connor will be working on his 36th album and is currently in talks about appearing in a West End show.
